Trusting God in all Circumstances

It’s not always easy to trust that all of life’s trials and burdens are going to be used to make us better and stronger.

I suppose it is easier to believe that way when you are looking back at past chapters of life, and get to see that you did make it, and that God really was with you all along.

It is a bit more difficult to be staring down the barrel of a super-sized mountain and have no way of seeing past it. I suppose instances like those are meant to break us, and rightfully so, for sometimes things must be broken before they can be more perfectly put together.

Today I decided to organize the staff office at work.

When I set my mind to projects such as these, I go in determined. My first step is always to go through and separate what is needed from what is simply clutter. Once I complete this task, the garbage is usually overflowing and the space I am attempting to clean and organize looks worse than it did when I started.

I then drag everything from its original place to the center of the room, dust and clean the items and the spots they once occupied, and then I begin putting things back in a way that better suites the needs and demands of the office.

I feel like God sometimes deals with us this way.

There are times when we become so bogged down with the world and get so lost in self, that the only way God can regain his rightful place in our lives and get us back into focus is to deal with us as I dealt with my office.

He must first go through and separate what is needed from what is clutter. Afterwards, we must be removed from our comfort zones, where we have a tendency to set up camp and plan an extended stay. When those steps are taken, He can then wash off the dust, dirt, and grime that have built up over time.

It is then that God can piece us back together in a way that is most beneficial for ourselves and His purpose for our lives.

“It is then that God can piece us back together in a way that is most beneficial for ourselves and His purpose for our lives.”

Seeing as to how we are people and not office desks and filing cabinets, we are likely to feel the pain and battle the all-too-familiar doubt that seems to arise in this course of our lives. We may also find ourselves in the midst of this process feeling as though situations in our lives are worse than they were to begin with.

In these times, it is important to remember that trials are simply a part of the process that God uses to take us apart, clean us up, and put us together more perfectly.

If we allow this process to have its perfect work, we will eventually find ourselves able to clearly see exactly what God was doing, and oftentimes why. This process will allow us to attain a taste of trust that wouldn’t have been possible before.
